How to opt out of LexisNexis

LexisNexis Risk Solutions runs three opt-outs, a separate deletion request under state privacy laws, and a security freeze. Each stops something different, and none of them reaches other companies.1, 2, 3

Which request does what

You can make more than one. The opt-out form lets you pick as many of its three options as you want.4

It doesn't affect your ability to apply for credit or insurance.1It doesn't remove you from the Equifax, TransUnion or Experian lists: LexisNexis points to 1-888-567-8688 for those: see stopping prescreened offers.1consumer.risk.lexisnexis.com/opt

Opt-out or freeze?

The opt-outs are about lists

They take you off LexisNexis's marketing and prescreen lists, or out of its restricted public records products if you qualify. They don't stop other companies or public records agencies collecting your data.1

The freeze is about your report

It is meant to stop credit, loans and services being approved in your name without your consent. Companies you already have an account with can still see your report to review or collect that account.3
